The infinitely variable speed gear drive gives an infinitely variable power distribution within several gear speed zones with a hydrostatic or mechanical converter. Using a mechanical converter, a safety unit (KS) is at one gear unit so that, on a shift of gears, it gives a temporary torque interruption or torque reduction during the gear shifting movement. Pref. it gives a targeted torque development at the drive shaft (125a) of the infinitely variable converter (4d). The planetary gears (301) have at least two input (E1,E2) and two output shafts (A1,A2). The first input shaft (E1) is in a drive train with the drive shaft (1c) and the primary unit (4dA), the second input shaft (E2) is in a drive train with the secondary unit (4dB) of the converter (4d). The two output shafts (A1,A2) are in different gear speed zones, to transmit the cumulated planetary gear drive selectively to an output shaft (106) directly or through an intermediate stage. On a rotating drive shaft (1c), the first output shaft (A1) has a zero rotary speed.
