PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly search for information near a route when the route is scrolled. SOLUTION: The apparatus has an information memory means 3 for storing map data, an input means 1 for inputting necessary information for searching for a destination and routes, and a scroll order, a display means 6 for displaying map data and guiding routes, and a control means 4 for searching for the route, plotting a map along the route on the basis of map data stored in the information memory means 3 and outputting the map to the display means 6. When the scroll order is detected, a predetermined area is set on the basis of the route. A display mode is changed between the predetermined area and the outside of the predetermined area. A point on the route is intermittently moved by every predetermined amount to scroll the map. The predetermined area is emphasized more than the outside of the predetermined area, or display information composed of character information and various kinds of mark information on the outside of the predetermined area is limited or toned down in the display mode. |
