PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system to enhance the functional capability of a satellite communication system. SOLUTION: This system includes an up-link receiver 40 that is placed with a 1st satellite 20. A 1st function unit 50 placed on the satellite 20 can process a signal from the up-link receiver 40. A link terminal 60 placed with the satellite 20 uses 2nd function units (234, 254) to receive a signal from a 2nd 2-way inter- satellite communication link terminal 220 placed with the 2nd satellite 200. A 1st switch 100 placed with the satellite 20 allows the communication link terminal 60 or the 1st function unit to use a signal from the up-link receiver 40. A down link transmitter 80 placed with the satellite 20 can transmit a signal to a ground base communication station 90. A 2nd switch 110 placed with the satellite 20 allows the down ink transmitter 80 to use a signal from the communication link terminal 60 or the 1st function unit 50.
