<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a density-testing device capable of optically testing a rod state material for tasting equipped with an aggregate of many small pieces or its part as a test piece in a high accuracy. SOLUTION: This optical density-testing device is provided by compositing a first light beam B1 of 0.7μm not transmitting a shredded tobacco LS and a second light beam B2 of 1.3μm transmitting through the shredded tobacco LS from a first and second light sources 12, 14, and irradiating a tobacco rod TR with the composited light as a parallel light beam CB. The quantities of lights, reflected lights and transmitted lights of the first and second light beams B1, B2 are measured by a light-receiving elements 26, 28, 42, 56, 58, a quantity of light-controlling circuit 36 and a calculating circuit 48. The calculating circuit 48 calculates the transmitted light quantity passing through the shredded tobacco LS based on the quantities of lights, reflected lights and transmitted lights of the first and second light beams B1, B2, and also the density of the shredded tobacco LS based on the quantity of the transmitted light.</p> |
