PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color hologram display recorded in superposition with the image of a three-dimensional object, such as a three-dimensional pattern, and the hologram images of patterns, such as characters and images of plane, in the same volume type hologram sensitive material, by reconstructably recording the color patterns, such as the characters and images of the plane and the color stereoscopic object image spatially in superposition. SOLUTION: A character hologram plate 1' is arranged in the position in the forward position of a stereoscopic object O between the object hologram plate 21' and the volume hologram sensitive material 27. When illumination light 24rgb is made incident in arbitrary order of light of three colors R, G and B from a direction opposite from the incident direction of the illumination light at the time of formation of the object hologram plate 21', the illumination light 24rgb is made incident on the character hologram plate 1' through the volume hologram photosensitive material 27 and the scattered light 11g of the color G is diffracted from the pattern portion 1' of the character to a reflection direction. The G color component of the scattered light 11b and the illumination light 24rgb interferes in the volume hologram sensitive material 27 and the character patterns are recorded.
