PRODUCTION OF 2-PYRIDYLPYRIDINE DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 2-pyridylpyridine derivative, capable of using also as intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals and applicable even in industrial scale and free from occurrence of pollution problem without requiring expensive specific catalyst and specific facility. SOLUTION: An acetyl-substituted nitrogen-containing aromatic compound is reacted with a 3-aminoacrolein and then, the reaction product is reacted with ammonia or an ammonium salt to produce the objective 2-pyridylpyridine derivative.
