The pillar lift has a guide stand and a lifting carriage movable upon it, and a lift belt acting on the lift carriage by one end and provided with a counterweight on its free end which is guided over a jib head. The lift belt (8) coming from the lift carriage and below the jib head (10) runs through a loop (11) in which the lift belt sits on a drive (12). A lifting fork (15) is fastened to the lift carriage. The loop is formed by a deflection roller unit (13) and drive roller unit (14) at a distance from it.
