PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cooling a blast furnace bottom, which facilitates flow of molten pig iron on a blast furnace bottom, and prevents an extraordinary wear of brick to prolong the life of the furnace. SOLUTION: In a method of supplying cooling water to a plurality of cooling tubes arranged in the blast furnace bottom, mildly cooling a central part of the blast furnace bottom and strongly cooling a peripheral part, this cooling method includes adjusting a space between the cooling tubes having the cooling water flow therein, by on-off-controlling the cooling water flowing through the cooling tubes arranged on the central part of the blast furnace bottom.
