PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a barrier function of the skin, by using an agent havingβ-endorphin-like activity. SOLUTION: Use of at least one compound selected fromβ-endorphin and aβ-endorphin imitative agent on a keratinocyte of the skin in a cosmetic composition for enhancing the barrier function of the skin is provided. Further, the compound is used in a cosmetic composition for enhancing resistance to stress, especially, to pollution.
