PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress noise such as false color at the time of all pixel reading and also decimation reading. SOLUTION: Since G signals are arranged in checkered pattern and spatially distributed uniformly in every direction in a mosaic arrangement 231, interpolation of G can be carried out precisely in demosaic processing at the time of all pixel reading. A color arrangement being obtained when the decimation reading of every other row is performed become a G stripe of every other row, and such mosaic arrangements as R and B are mixed uniformly on the same horizontal line in a row other than G and arranged alternately on the same vertical line. When an on-chip color filter of such a mosaic arrangement 231 is employed in a CCD image sensor, noise such as false color is not generated easily at the time of decimation reading of every other row as well as at the time of all pixel reading, and a high quality low resolution image can be attained.
