PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device having a means detecting connection of a ROM writer to an IC card connector for changing the data direction of a data bus buffer and driving either of the IC card and the ROM writer by the same interface. SOLUTION: This image formation device 1 is provided with a FROM (storage device) 2 storing a program controlling the image formation device 1, a connector (connection means) 14 managing an interface between the ROM writer (external device) 10 and the inside of the image formation device 1, the data bus buffer performing voltage conversion and direction conversion of a data bus for connecting the ROM writer and the FROM 2 together via the connector 14, a CPU (control part) 3 controlling the data bus 4 and the data bus buffer 5, and a data bus control circuit 6 changing the data output direction of the data bus buffer 5.
