A system and a method for providing a search/Internet connection service by using a local DNS are provided selectively to offer the search or Internet connection service by checking an event if the predetermined event is generated after a user inputs a keyword to an address window of a browser. The local DNS(313) is installed in a user terminal and stores a database for the DNS. An Internet connector(312) performs Internet connection to an IP(Internet Protocol) address according to control of a controller(311) if the local DNS inquires the IP address for the keyword. The controller requests the keyword search from a search server(340) by determining the keyword search if a word inputted from the user is formed by including the keyword and a predetermined syllable. The controller requests a DNS inquiry from the local DNS by determining that the IP address corresponding to the keyword is requested if the word is formed by including the keyword.
