POWER CONTROL SYSTEM AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power control system capable of controlling power consumption below a predefined upper limit value in a building where an image formation unit has been installed, and a method to control the system.

SOLUTION: A power detection unit 31 senses power consumption in a building where a plurality of image formation units 1 have been installed and a power management server 20 determines whether or not the detected result is not smaller than a predefined upper limit value stored in a memory 22. When the detected result is not smaller than the upper limit value, a power consumption decrease command is issued to each image formation unit 1 to place it in a standby power-saving mode whose power consumption is smaller than normal power consumption.
