PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated paper having high smoothness in spite of a low density, and also having high surface strength and internal bonding strength. SOLUTION: The coated paper for printing includes a base paper and one or more coated layers provided at least on one side of the base paper, and is subjected to press finish. The base paper contains 1-20 mass% porous filler composed of an aggregate obtained by aggregating silicon oxide and a metallic compound. The content of the metallic compound in the porous filler is 0.10-8.0 mass% in terms of oxide based on 100 mass% silicon oxide, and the porous filler has a specific surface area of 10-150 m<SP>2</SP>/g, a pore diameter of 0.10-0.80μm and an average particle diameter of 16-40μm.
