<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader capable of quickly reading direct marking. <P>SOLUTION: In reading a normal two-dimensional (2D) code, a focused image out of images of a first light receiving sensor 23A and a second light receiving sensor 23B whose focal positions are shifted from each other is selected and decoded. Consequently the normal 2D code can be quickly read without adjusting a distance between the optical information reader and the 2D code. Meanwhile in reading a direct marking, an unfocused image is selected and decoded.
