PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate two-dimensional image data, the resolution of which is higher than conventional one, using a photoreceptor device that is common to generate distance image data and two-dimensional image data. SOLUTION: An image data generator has a photoelectric sensor 21 which is arranged with pixel generation units 27 that have a photoelectric converter element and a floating diffusion. In the photoelectric sensor, a plurality of pixel sets 25 in which the pixel generation units are arranged in a two-by-two matrix is arranged in a matrix. The image data generator calculates a pixel value for a pixel based on an output value from the pixel generation unit for every pixel generation unit using the photoelectric sensor to generate two-dimensional image data. On the other hand, the image data generator calculates the distance to an object based on an output value from each of the pixel generation units that belong to the pixel set for every pixel set to calculate a pixel value for a pixel to generate distance image data.
