PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor element, especially a semiconductor laser element in which current can sufficiently be constricted without causing distortion in a current constricting part and which can easily be manufactured. SOLUTION: The semiconductor element, especially semiconductor laser element has a p-type semiconductor part formed of a nitride semiconductor. The p-type semiconductor part has at least two layers, a first layer and a second layer which are adjacently laminated. A boundary face of the first layer and the second layer is constituted of a flat region and a region having one or more irregularities in the semiconductor element, especially the semiconductor laser element.
