PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loosely-coupled system which can be recovered without stopping or restricting operation even if a failure occurs in an active MSCP (multi-system control processor). SOLUTION: The loosely-coupled system 1 comprises a plurality of hosts 3, a shared resource shared by the plurality of hosts, a plurality of active systems MSCPs 11 which lock or unlock the shared resource upon receipt of commands from the plurality of hosts, and a backup MSCP 12. The backup MSCP, while all the active MSCPs are normally operated, accumulates a command from the host to the active MSCP, and if a failure occurs in any of the active MSCPs, operates in place of the defective active MSCP.
