PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device provided with a plastic substrate which has inorganic barrier layers and is excellent in flatness of the surface. SOLUTION: The display device is composed of: a first plastic substrate 20 which has a composite layer including only a fiber cloth 3 impregnated with a resin, inorganic barrier layers 25 formed on the composite layer and planarization resin layers 24 formed on the inorganic barrier layers 25 and having a ruggedness of the surface of about 100 nm or less; and a display medium layer 26 disposed on the planarization resin layer side of the first plastic substrate.
