An image compositing apparatus and method in a digital image processor are provided to synthesize small a second photographed image on a first photographed image and provide information about the photographed images to a user, thereby providing convenience to the user. An image compositing apparatus in a digital image processor comprises a digital signal processor(39). The digital signal processor takes a picture of a first image and a next second image. The digital signal processor cuts down the size of a sub image arbitrarily selected out of the first and second images. The digital signal processor synthesizes the sub image with a main image.
