A gas detection apparatus and method are provided to detect marker gas of lung cancer and to thereby discover lung cancer at its early stage. A gas detection method comprises a step of collecting respiratory gas of a subject(S102), a step of removing the foreign material from the collected respiratory gas(S120), a step of removing the moisture from the respiratory gas from which the foreign material is removed(S130), and a step of detecting the specific components included in the moisture-removed gas(S160). The moisture removal step includes condensing the respiratory gas and removing the remaining moisture from the condensed respiratory gas.
