<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy in determining whether or not an object touches a display screen. <P>SOLUTION: With reference to an image picked up by a display part 2, an object approaching the display part 2 is detected and an alternating current drive circuit 72 drives an alternating current signal to the display part 2, so that a detection circuit 73 detects an amplitude change or a phase shift. Alternatively, a liquid crystal panel 1 is vibrated at a predetermined frequency, so that the strength of the frequency of the vibration sound is detected.
