The present invention relates to a machine to machine communication (M2M) technology and relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling replacement of devices in an M2M system. More specifically, the present invention relates to a technology for automatically controlling setting information according to replacement of devices by using profile information in an M2M system. In particular, the method for controlling replacement of devices, which is performed by a common service object, comprises: a receiving step of receiving registration request information from a first apparatus; an identity determining step of determining the presence or absence of profile information of a second apparatus identical or similar to profile information of the first apparatus based on the registration request information and pre-stored profile information of each apparatus; a registration method determination step of, when it is determined that the profile information of the second apparatus is present, determining a registration method of the first apparatus based on whether the apparatus registered in the common service object is terminated or information on a termination type; and a setting control step of, when the registration method of the first apparatus is determined to be a replacement registration, performing control to apply setting information of the second apparatus to the first apparatus. |
