Provided are a group message prompting method and device for an instant messaging application. The method comprises: receiving a group message pushed by a server; judging whether the group message is associated with an object of special interest by a current login user in an instant messaging application, wherein a first correlation exists between the current login user and the object of special interest under a pre-set relational dimension, and the first correlation is different from a second correlation between the current login user and the other objects under the pre-set relational dimension; when a judgement result indicates that the group message is associated with the object of special interest, providing a receiving prompt to the group message using a first prompting method, wherein the first prompting method is different from a second prompting method adopted for group messages which are not associated with the object of special interest. By means of the technical solution of the present application, an instant messaging application can actively configure an object of special interest and differentially prompt group messages associated with the object of special interest, thereby preventing a user from missing the group messages. |
