The press has two closely opposed compacting cylinders rotated toward each other, where a rotating driving gear is associated to the cylinders. A surface of the compacting cylinders is provided with highly dense knurling in a longitudinal direction. A star cylinder is associated to the compacting cylinders. Nests are machined into a surface of the star cylinder. The star cylinder is arranged above the compacting cylinders at a bisecting plane between the compacting cylinders. The star cylinder is rotated toward one of the compacting cylinders by the gear.
