The present invention relates to a polarization backlight unit and a display device comprising the polarization backlight unit. The polarization backlight unit comprises: a light guide plate including a light guide unit and a light extracting unit; a polarization unit formed between the light guide unit and the light extracting unit; and a half-wave plate formed to face a light source on one side surface of the light guide unit. Therefore, the display device with maximized optical efficiency can be manufactured.
