<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device capable of preventing carrying failure caused by a difference in peripheral velocity of a roller when carrying a sheet by a plurality of rollers separated in the carrying direction, in its turn, capable of enhancing quality of read image data and an image recorded on the sheet even when image reading and image recording are performed. <P>SOLUTION: An ADF 10 has a carrying unit 60 and a discharge unit 70. The peripheral velocity is different between a carrier roller 62 of the carrying unit 60 and a discharge roller 72 of the discharge unit 70, and the peripheral velocity is large in the discharge roller 72. The carrying unit 60 is formed by fixing the carrier roller 62 to a shaft 66. The shaft 66 is rotatably supported by a body frame 30 on its both ends and at two points in the axial direction. The discharge unit 70 is formed by fixing the two discharge rollers 72 to a shaft 76.
