1,041,222. Handling frozen foods. WHITWORTH GLOSTER AIRCRAFT Ltd. March 1, 1963 [March 1, 1962], No. 8087/62. Headings B8A and B8S. Frozen foods in a warehouse which are delivered to point 13 are discharged therefrom by pusher 20 which oscillates about point 19 and lifts the first food over fixed obstacle 12 so that it is discharged thereover by the pressure of the goods in the rear. In order to avoid icing up, pusher 20 is kept continuously on the move. This is done by rotating spider 16. Each arm 16 has a slider 17 which passes right through it and at its upper edge engages the arm 18 of pusher 20. Normally spider 16 rotates and the arms 17 engage the pusher 20 so that it oscillates continuously but not sufficiently to lift the foremost article over gate 12. Instead it agitates the article to keep it from icing up. Operation.-When an article is required a signal is given which causes solenoid 25 to operate and to pivot cam 23 about axis 36. Cam 23 then engages in turn the sliders 17 of spider 16. This causes sliders 17 to move upwards relative to respective spiders 16 so that the pusher 20 is given a larger movement i.e. large enough to urge the first article over gate 12 and thus discharge it. Additionally the spider 16 is provided with an arm 27 which constantly engages cam 23 to keep the latter in movement to prevent icing. Additionally a cam 22 is provided which engages the ends of sliders 17 to also cause them to be in movement for the same purpose. |
