A selective printer, having a plurality of characters disposed on an endless belt 10, Fig. 4, or a rotary type cylinder (not shown) and associated with a plurality of hammers 20 and means for supporting a number of record sheets a and transfer sheets b between the belt and the hammers 20, is provided with a plastics laminar shield which are disposed between the obverse surface of the last record sheet a and the hammers to eliminate the formation of a halo or shadow image around the reproduced character. The laminar shield comprises two to seven layers of a polyethylene terephthalate film 0À0015 inch thick and mounted by means of fasteners 55 in a nose cone 50 which spans the hammers 20. |
