The machine has a sleeper lifter unit, sleeper setter, a ballast lifter with conveyor unit (17), and a ballast grader. A second conveyor unit (19) is connected with its ejection end to the ballast grader. This has a pick-up end (36) positioned at a machine end (33). The second conveyor unit is positioned between a ballast store (51) and the first conveyor, to transport ballast to the grader. The second unit has a conveyor belt (38) located above the ballast store and is moved by a drive relative to the ballast store and in longitudinal machine direction.
