Automatic chart display apparatus comprises a chart 11 movable in one direction and a chart marker 21 Fig. 1 (not shown) movable across the chart in a transverse direction, wherein the chart marker is arranged behind the chart and the chart is formed of a film of transparent plastics material 30 with a white material 31 dotted on one surface covered by a hardened coating 32 and the other surface having a coating 35 with a hard smooth surface, one of the coatings being a photographic emulsion 33 carrying an image of a digital control track for photo-electric sensing of the position of the chart. The chart and the chart marker are both moved by motors actuated and controlled by a computer of a radio or other navigation system. The position of the marker pen is sensed by a sensing unit 23 Fig. 1 (not shown) the mark being made on the chart by forcing the marker against a typewriter ribbon 40 extending across the chart strip. |
