A photo-conductive material comprises a charge-transfer complex between a Lewis acid and an aromatic silicone resin, the complex having at least one new absorption band within a range 3,200 to 7,500 A which is present in neither the acid nor the resin. A self-supporting electrophotographic plate may be formed using the material or the material may be applied to an aluminium substrate. The silicone resin may be prepared from C 6 H 5 SiCl 3 , (C 6 H 5 ) 2 . Si(OCH 3 ) 2 , CH 3 (C 6 H 5 )Si (OC 2 H 5 )2, (CH 3 C 6 H 4 ) 2 - SiCl 2 , (C 6 H 5 ) 2 SiCl 2 , dinaphthylsilane-diol, anthracenetrichlorosilane, biphenylenetrichlorosilane, fluorene trichlorosilane and 9,9-dicarbozalolydichlorosilane. The Lewis acids preferred are 2,4,7-tri-nitrofluorenone, and 9-dicyanomethylene - 2,4,7 - trinitrofluorene but many organic and inorganic Lewis acids are specified. Brilliant Green Special dye may be added as a sensitizer. The silicone layer may be cellular.
