<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet with a protective layer having a gloss adjustment layer with which the grade of a printed image is enhanced by making the surface of the protective layer formed on printed matter adjustable in gloss according to the printed image, and enables obtaining the printed matter having not much difference in terms of durability from that of the monotonous protective layer, and the printed matter. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer sheet with the protective layer is provided face sequentially with thermally transferable ink layers of three colors including yellow (Y), magenta (M), and cyan (C), or four colors including black (BK) on one surface of a base material sheet in a longitudinal direction of the thermally transferable protective layer. The thermal transfer sheet with the protective layer is characterized by being provided with the gloss adjustment layer subjected to non-thermally transferable surface roughening backward in the longitudinal direction of the thermally transferable protective layer. The thermal transfer sheet with the protective layer is provided with the protective layer subjected to non-thermally transferable surface roughening backward in for longitudinal direction of the thermally transferable protective layer. In succession to image recording by the ink layer, the protective layer is uniformly formed and thereafter, the gloss adjustment layer is brought into tight contact with the protective layer, and the protective layer is uniformly softened by heating with the a thermal head based on the image information, thereby forming the printed matter nonuniformly transferred with the shape on the surface of the gloss adjustment layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
