Safety razor blade has the edge protected by a fine plastic or metal thread wound with spaced turns over the cutting edge and permanently secured to the blade. Quoted thread materials are nylon, glass fibre and steel. Non-metallic threads are secured in position by epoxy resin adhesive and metal threads are spot welded. Antifriction PTFE coating may be applied to the blade before or after the thread is secured. |
