A dispenser for flowable materials comprises an elongated valve housing 16 having a sealing portion 24 adapted for fluid tight reception in the mouth of a container 10, the housing having a lengthwise bore 18, means at one end of the housing defining a socket 26 for fluid tight reception of a propellant cartridge 28, a propellant valve associated with said cartridge having a tubular valve stem 34, a product discharge passage 60 formed in the housing; a valve plunger 36 disposed in the bore for sliding movement between valve closing and dispensing positions and coupled to the valve stem for movement therewith, the plunger having a propellant passage 56 communicating with the valve stem and a discharge port 58 adapted to register with a discharge orifice 48 in the dispensing position, the housing having a pressure release passage through the sealing portion and connecting the socket to the atmosphere, the pressure release passage being isolated from the propellant and product discharge passages. An air inlet passage 66a, b may be provided, and the sections of this and of the product discharge passage 60a, b may be connected by recesses 64, 68 in the plunger when the latter is in the dispensing position. The head 38 which operates the valve plunger may be keyed 52 on the valve housing where this contains the product passage to ensure correct registration. |
