A partially defatted nut covered by an edible and substantially air-impervious coating may be prepared by combining the nuts and an aqueous binder solution, for example dextrin, in the ratio of substantially ten parts of nuts to one part of solution for a time sufficient for the nuts to absorb the solution and be wholly covered by a sealing coating. A dry powdered coating may thereafter be applied to the nuts, comprising for example salt, monosodium glutamate, yeast extract, starch, dextrin, and flavouring such as herbs and spices. |
