It may also comprise Cu, Ag, Fe or Co. The electrodes are prepared by impregnating Ni + Sb with a solution of a salt of the Pt-group metal. Preferably a layer of Ni + Sb + (Cu, Ag, Fe or Co) is formed on a sintered Ni support and then impregnated. In examples sintered Ni bodies are impregnated with Ni+Sb, Ni+Sb+Cu and Ni+Sb+Fe chlorides, dried, reduced with H 2 or alkaline N 2 H 4 , dried and impregnated with Pd from a solution of aq. H 2 PdCl 4 in BuOH or acetone. The sintered Ni may contain C or be replaced by active carbon, graphite, WC or tungsten bronze together with a polystyrene or fluorinated resin binder. The electrode may also comprise a metal screen or expanded metal. The electrodes can be used in alkaline hydrazine/air fuel cells. |
