In a high-line apparatus for transhipping at sea, one or both ends of the cable are supported on pivoted arms 5, Fig. 2, provided with means 8 for receiving a trolley 1, the arrangement being such that when the arm is lowered to set down a load the effective high point of the cable is transferred from a point inwards of the end of the arm, i.e. the pivot 9, to a point further out along the arm at or in the vicinity of the trolley. Fig. 4 shows the disposition of the apparatus in the lowered position of the arm 5. Figs. 5 and 7 show an embodiment in which the trolley is pulled along a jack-stay 14 by a cable 23. In Fig. 8 an arm 35 is supported by a jackstay 36 which passes over a pulley 38 and is pulled down into the unloading position by a cable 47. When the apparatus is in position C the hauling cable 49 is paid out to lower the load to the ground. |
