1,245,731. Cutting apparatus. CINCINNATI MILLING MACHINE CO. 2 Jan., 1970 [8 Jan., 1969], No. 318/70. Heading B4B. A cutting machine comprises a support 14, .15 for the material e.g. cloth, to be cut by a knife 10, rockably supported means 20, 21 for applying pressure to the material and closure means 24, 25 for substantially closing the gap between the pressure applying means, the closure means being secured to the rockably supported means. The present cutting machine is substantially the same as that described in application No. 319/70 except that the pressure-applying means 20, 21 and the closure means 24, 25 are arranged to pivot relatively to each other in order to accommodate any "humps" developed in the material during cutting. As in the latter application the closure means are in the form of plates secured .to members 27, 29 extending across the machine the ends of the members being connected by blocks 30, 31. In the present Specification the blocks are pivotally connected to pairs of arms 33, 34 and 42, 43 respectively, the arms being secured to the rockable means 20, 21 by screws 36, 38 and 45, 47; screws 39, 40 and 48, 49 are provided for adjusting the height of the closure means relatively to the means 20, 21. Stop screws 61, 63, Fig. 2, are provided for limiting the pivoting movement of the members 27, 29. |
