Ultra delamination of a crystalline, laminated material such as mica into thin plates of flocks, is carried out by (i) pressing a liquid medium through openings in the bottom of a circular converter, perpendicular to the height so that the liquid forms a system of gyrating flows with an orientation approaching the circular path of the conversion zone, (ii) introducing relatively course particles of the solids into this system of gyrating liquid flows, thus disintegrating the particles mainly in planes corresponding with the two main axes of the solid crystal lattice, (iii) bringing the liquid suspension contng the finely divided solid from the bottom area upward to a higher part of the peripheral zone, (iv) recirculating insufficiently divided solid particles from the upward flowing suspension back to the bottom area for further disintegration in the gyrating flows, and (v) removing solids of required fineness from the conversion zone.
|
