1308454 Lock-nuts W J WILD MFG CO GLYNNED DISTRIBUTION Ltd and E G GOODFELLOW 28 April 1970 [1 May 1969] 22263/69 Heading F2H A lock-nut comprises a body portion 10 having a bearing face 12 and a deformable frustoconical washer 11 which is retained in a recess 13 from which the washer projects, the washer being characterized in that the diameter of its inner edge is not less than the major diameter of the internal screw thread of the nut, the arrangement of nut and washer being such that on tightening the washer tends to flatten, its inner edge thereby being caused to grip the thread of the co-operating externally threaded element. The washer may be of metal or plastics and may be merely a tight push fit in the recess or may be retained by impressing one or more depressions into the bearing face of the nut body after the washer has been fitted. The lock-nut may be formed with one washer as shown in connection with Fig. 1 or it may be provided with one washer on each face as shown in Fig. 4. |
