A plastic-coated wooden board is produced by pouring a layer of plastic material on to a support, allowing it to harden or partly harden by polymerization or polycondensation, pressing the plastic layer on the support on to an adhesive surface coating of a board and removing the support after adhesion has been obtained between the plastic layer and the adhesive surface coating and the plastic layer has polymerized or polycondensed. The board may comprise wooden strips glued together, the support, which may be treated with an antiadhesive agent before application of the plastic layer, may be a steel sheet and the plastic material may be a polyester resin containing styrene, hardener, accelerator and pigment. The board and support are preferably pressed together in a press in an oven for 10 minutes at 50‹ C. at 15 kg/cm.<SP>2</SP> pressure, although temperatures of up to 80‹ C. for down to 5 minutes may be used. An absorbent paper shim may be glued on to the board and soaked with the adhesive surface coating prior to application of the plastic layer. |
