<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell structure having high gas barrier property and adhesion capability to a gasket while preventing breakage of an electrolyte membrane; and to provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell using this. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer electrolyte fuel cell structure is equipped with an electrolyte membrane-catalyst layer assembly 10; a frame-shaped reinforcing sheet 4 bonded to the both surfaces of the electrolyte membrane-catalyst layer assembly 10; and a gasket 6 placed on the reinforcing sheet 4 so as to surround a catalyst layer 3. The reinforcing sheet 4 has an opening part 41 in the central part, and the catalyst layer 3 is exposed from the opening part 41 except an outer peripheral part 31. Each reinforced sheet 4 has a first bonding layer 42, a gas barrier layer 43 formed on the first bonding layer 42, and a second bonding layer 44 formed on the gas barrier layer 43. The first bonding layer 42 is bonded to an outer peripheral part 21 of an electrolyte membrane 2 and an outer peripheral part 31 of the catalyst layer 3, and the second bonding layer 44 is bonded to the gasket 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
