1,219,688. Magnetic heads. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 Aug., 1968 [31 Aug., 1967], No. 41092/68. Heading G5R. At least one of a number of associated magnetic heads is screened by electrically conductive screening which intersects the magnetic circuit of the head. As shown, write and checkread heads 1, 2, which may form part of a multitrack assembly, have the core limbs located in a conductive box 7 while the pole shoes 11, 12 are located outside the box and separated from the limbs by conductive layers 9, 10 covering the ends of the limbs. The core limbs are potted in the boxes and the exposed faces ground before vapour depositing of the layers 10 complete the box. Alternatively, a comb-shaped or undivided foil may constitute the layer. The interhead capacitance is said to be below 10<SP>-3</SP> pf. |
