<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glutathione reductase activity-enhancing agent which enhances glutathione reductase activity in cells to increase the reduced glutathione concentration in a living organism thereby to prevent dermatopathy caused by a peroxide resulting from deficiency of reduced glutathione. <P>SOLUTION: This glutathione reductase activity-enhancing agent comprises extracts of one or more selected from among Leonurus sibiricus L., Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Acanthopanax senticosus, Asiasarum sieboldi F., Oryza sativa L., Cnidium officinale M., lily and Tremella fuciformis B. The glutathione reductase activity-enhancing agent is incorporated into foods, cosmetics, quasi-drugs, pharmaceuticals, or the like, and enhances glutathione reductase activity to accelerate the formation of reduced glutathione thereby to exhibit effectiveness against oxidation injury of the skin or skin ageing. Specifically, the glutathione reductase activity-enhancing agent is effective for improvement of melanism deposition on skin cells and ageing symptoms such as wrinkles or lowering of tightness caused by deterioration in cell functions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
