1,265,578. Moulding foamed articles. CARL FREUDENBERG. 21 May, 1969 [28 May, 1968], No. 25977/69. Heading B5A. A foam plastics article having an adherent outer covering film, is made by sucking the film on to a male former, transferring the film to a female mould of corresponding shape and retaining it in the mould by suction, introducing a foamable paste into the mould, foaming the paste and finally releasing the suction on the mould and removing the moulded article. The film may be of P.V.C. and may be foamed and backed by a fabric if desired. The foamable paste may be a polyurethane. In the particular sample, hemispherical articles are formed using hemispherical formers and moulds. When articles of a more complicated shape are to be made the mould may be multi-part to facilitate release from the moulded article. |
