The separating piston of the hydropneumatic storage cylinder ensures that the gas side piston seal is pressed with increasing force against the cylinder wall depending on the pressure difference. The pressure force is generated by the pressure difference between the gas and oil side. The gas side and the oil side of the storage cylinder are separated by the piston. The piston face on the gas side has a face which contacts the cylinder bottom. The oil side of the piston is covered with a plate with a central cavity. A sealing ring which contacts the cylinder wall is held under this plate. This seal is additionally presurised by differential pressure arising on sudden removal of oil. The piston seal is pressurised in proportion to its acceleration. The chamber between the piston ends can be filled with a solvent for the oil and its vapour on overheating is vented on the gas side. |
