An apparatus for the continuous extrusion and blow-moulding of shaped plastic objects e.g. tubing comprises, in combination, an extruder 20 with an extrusion die having an extrusion orifice 28 and an inner orifice formed between 24, 29 to apply fluid for blowing, both orifices being preferably substantially concentric (all shown in dotted lines), a single endless conveyer having a series of slide-bars 74 thereon, two banks of opposed mould segments e.g. 31a and 31b slidably mounted on the slide-bars, and arranged in opposed co-operating pairs, one from each bank, mounted on the same slide-bar, each pair comprising a mould, the segments being laterally movable from a separated position (i.e. mould open as 31) to an abutting position (i.e. mould closed), means for moving the conveyer in a closed path to carry each pair past the extrusion orifice, and actuator means to move the segments as above 75 and 76, seriatim. The moulds are cooled after receiving the extrudate and the heat dissipated. Cams 75, 77, 76 are provided to effect closing, locking and opening of the moulds respectively. |
