<p>Cutter is moved along two co-ordinates by computer controlled signals and the material is fed simultaneously by a second computer. This second computer is fed with data on cloth type, cutter capacity and/or position and the first is fed with material properties, size and rate of flow and possibly size and style of the pattern. The first computer can also be supplied with data on pattern spread along the path and/or the size of these and the cutters are controlled so as to ensure minimum spacing and thus minimum wastage between successive parts of the suit etc., being cut. Lasers, blade of band saws, or water jets can be used for cutting out. A bridge an be used to carry the cutters and moves up one co-ordinate axis while the cutter travels the other on the bridge. Cutting tool and time are fully utilised in an automatic process which is still variable and adaptable to customer requirements and is independent of the path limits of the cutter.</p> |
