<p>A container is formed by injection moulding a circular lip to which is attached a vertical element which holds in position a single sheet of flexible material which forms the vertical wall whose diameter decreases towards the base which is also part of the injection moulding, the sheet being welded along a rib which joins the mouth and base. The moulding may include a number of vertical ribs of which one constitutes the weld line. Axial ribs may bifurcate as they rise from the base. The transverse section may optionally by polygonal. The injection moulded portion of the container is of conventional material e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene, but the flexible sheet material is one having a low percentage of residual monomers such as biaxially oriented polystyrene. Due to the use of sheet material of low monomer content the container is suitable for use with foodstuff.</p> |
